Birthday programming.

Writing this and trying to paint a mental picture of what you want your new year to look like, nothing is coming to mind. You feel tired and it's not like you don't want to make plans, you just don't know what those plans are supposed to look like now.

It has been eating you up and you decided that maybe, you don't have to figure everything out now. The path will unfold as you walk it. You're only praying for courage and the strength to always make the right decisions. You don't have to step into a new season of your life loudly and with all the excitement that is associated with birthdays. You could do that, but you don't have to. 

It doesn't mean you don't care, it just means that this is what this year is calling for. Calmness. And you'll see that the year will bring nothing but that. You'll learn to stay calm and trust that you're not being misled. Everything will eventually be okay. If it's not “okay”, then that's not the end. Everything will be okay.

Even though you're going into the year with nothing on your mind, that doesn't mean you have to accept whatever happens. You don't. I hope you'll be more excited and happy. Not just when things seem to be going well, actively find happiness. When you can find it, don't give in to despair. There are other emotions. Sadness is not your default setting, Grace.

Oh, and Grace? You can say no. You can always say no. You ALWAYS have a choice. You don't have to do anything. I hope you remember this.

You're writing this now and even you are thinking that, “well, sometimes, we don't have a choice in certain things.” But remember, just because other people have to live their life like that doesn't mean you have to. Be an active participant in your life.
