How is Khalid Hosseini able to write about women's struggles so perfectly — Takeover Session With Najwa.

I still can't get a grip on how a man (for that matter) can write about the struggles of women so honourably well. When I read that book, I cried and crode and wept and wupt.

Hi, hi Long time, no takeover. Well, something came up concerning this whole thing (in my head) and I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep doing it or not, but I've had this one since January and I couldn't keep hoarding greatness, so today, I present to you; Najwa.

Najwa is… a lot. I met her recently and after reading her blog, I knew I had to have her on the blog. She should be one of the funniest persons I know, it's amazing how her mind is able to think of the things it does.

Anyhoo, no too much talk, I'll hand you over to Najwa now.

Regular programming.

I feel like I'm supposed to start with something serious so that people won't think I'm one unserious person, but something has just been bothering me for a while, and I have to get it off my chest.

Now, I know that God knows best, and I know He created us in his own image (abi how do they say it?), but in my opinion, yansh hair is very unnecessary. It just makes no sense!

People usually just say “maybe you should get a wax” but I just—the spa people will see my bumbum, 😔, and what if I fart while they're at it? Won't they swear for me? No, but think about it (?).

Don't look at me like that. Moving on, I recently started a new column under my blog called Giggles and Gele. I've been focused on drafting out plans and content in general (If only I was this focused on my school books).

I've also been trying to keep up with the TikTok home workout challenge, but omo! My legs use to do gbim gbim everytime I do those workouts. I've left big bumbum and flat tummy for who get am, abeg.

I've been toying with the idea of YouTube vlogs for a while now, so in case you jam me in public and I'm talking to myself, I'm just talking to my imaginary subscribers, I'm not mad (or maybe I am).

Books.

Right now, I'm reading Sing me to sleep by Gabi Burton, and I'm loving it! It has been on my tbr since forever, and I finally started reading it, and so far, it's been a wonderful read.

You know how we all have that one book that we'll never shut up about? (I can't be the only one) mine is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini. That book? Yes! A solid five.

I still can't get a grip on how a man (for that matter) can write about the struggles of women so honourably well. When I read that book, I cried and crode and wept and wupt.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is a book I'll always recommend to all the women I meet. The things that we take for granted so much these days are the things women used to suffer so much for. I also love how that book portrayed misogyny and the dangers of patriarchy, and I love how it's so well written.

This might be my favourite quote from the book.

I could go on and on about this book, but I don't want Grace to give me side eye. Also, you should read The Kite Runner, also by Khalid Hosseini. You'll cry, but you'll love it! I'll probably read The Poppy War when I'm done with my current read, but yeah, we'll see.

Music.

Music, music, music. I wish I could be one of those put together girlies that have a playlist for everything, but I'm not. Skrimsssss! I basically just have one big playlist that I add all the songs I like. I do have another playlist that's a little more put together, but I'm not showing you guys that one! No! I won't share! Is it your own?

Plus, I listen to a lot of podcasts, one of my favourite has to be the So Nigerian podcast. I never thought I'd be one to be giggling at the words of two grown men, but those men have proved me wrong (if I see this info anywhere, the person that leaked it will turn to yam. I can't be caught unfresh).

Another podcast that I really, really love is Owoje Has A Podcast. I don't know why, but it just resonates with me.

Again, I could go on and on, but I don't want side eye. Oh and, I act like I'm okay, but deep down, I want Hozier and Lana del Rey to have a collab.

Movies.

To be honest, I'm not that big on movies. But I really like periodic pieces. For example, Alias Grace, Bridgerton (if you like, slander Bridgerton till tomorrow, I din care) I also watched A Tribe Called Judah recently, and I loveeee! It's so good. I didn't cry sha (cap).

What I'm currently up to.

You know how you'll have a lot of ideas in your head, that you won't even be able to choose a particular one to work on? That's me right now. It's a very overwhelming feeling. Like, I know I'm supposed to be doing something, but I don't know which one.

But I'm not giving up, I must enter my soft gowl era by force by fire this year. Nnkan to ba gba la ma fun (I'll give it whatever it takes) even if it's to find a glucose guardian (winks).

Final note.

I have huge exams coming up soon. Have I started studying? Yes, actually. Do I feel like I'm doing enough? No. Big no. This is something I've always battled with, the “you're not doing enough” syndrome.

I know for a fact that if I sit for that exam tomorrow, I'll pass. Very well sef, but I still feel like I'm not doing enough. Does that make sense? Yes. If it doesn't make sense to you, Iwo lo mo (no translation for you this time around)

Right now, I am sitting in my wardrobe, in a very awkward position. My back will probably hurt when I get up, but meh. I also want to drink garri. I have the garri, and I have cold water.

The issue now is, I also have chicken. I want to drink this garri with chicken, but if I do, my chicken will quickly finish. I don't want my chicken to finish, skrimsss! Anyways, bye bye.

Remember, that man does not love you, he's just lying to you (I'm a big hater, and so?) And that your wig is not even fine (I'm still hating) your new shoe is not fine too (skrimsssss!) Okay, I've done enough. Let me come and be going.

*Caves in and takes the biggest piece of chicken in her fridge*
